Subject: RE: Lucille is gone

Lucille, unbelievably, is gone. We are having her cremated and will bury her remains in the yard. I’ve attached a picture of Sophie, Lucille, and I from this morning. When you have time to update your website, please include Lucille on your memory page. She was born March 24, 2002 from Gentle Ralph and Carrie. I kept thinking she was 7, but she was actually 8. Funny how we lose time.

Everyone was so kind at the vet. Lu loved all the attention. Her trainer came in and laid right down with her, then her very favorite vet came to kiss her on the lips. The staff all love her and came in for pets and rubs. Then it was time.

Dear Fredericka,

Lucille is now 6 1/2 months old, and she is Sophia’s best friend! They are the talk of the town–the little girl with the big dog. Sophia calls Lucille her “daughter” (we’re the grandparents!!), but I think the two of them are more like siblings. Sometimes I have to send both of them to their rooms!!! Lu is now over 80 lbs., but lean and well-proportioned. Her mouth is drier than our neighbor’s lab’s! We get compliments about her wherever we go. Thanks!
