July 2009
Blue is doing great. Leila, our older daughter, is his favorite person. She is 3 1/2 and they have been sleeping together for more than 6 months now–because Blue eats monsters (with ketchup), witches (with mustard) and dragons (with pickle relish).
We are slowly introducing Blue to the our newborn baby— I think he’s happy with what he’s seen so far.

Hi Fredericka,
These are some of the best we’ve ever gotten–had to send them. Blue turned 6 in July, and is as great a dog as ever. Leila is 2 and loves her poochie.

Dear Fredericka,
It’s been a long time since I wrote you. You’ll be happy to know that Blue–son of Taffy and George, born July 2001–is still thriving. My wife and I had our first baby, Leila, in October 2005. . Leila loves climbing on him, pulling on his ears, and sitting between his paws. she also loves giving him dog biscuits. Blue topped out at about 215-220 lbs. He got up over 230 once, but I try to keep him lean. Blue’s in a home where he is loved and appreciated. I don’t even feed him dog food anymore. He gets pork, chicken, liver and kidney from the same supermarket I buy my own food. How’re George and Taffy? I hope things are good on the farm. The pictures below are from January. It’s not easy getting a dog and a 16 month old to stay still, but I hope you like them!
Best regards

Subject: Blue at 9 mos.
“The Big Blue” was about 140lbs on his 9 mo. birthday, but a very lean 140.People constantly stop me to tell me how good-looking he is. I’ve got an antique convertible–with the top down, and with Blue in the back, it’s amazing to hear people call out as we go by “Hey, nice dog!”
Blue is very affectionate with us, very patient, very calm. He lies at my feet all day, with his chew toy, happy as can be. He’ll lie quietly beside us on the couch for a double-feature, no problem–try doing that with another adult dog, much less a puppy.
We took a 9-day vacation, and sent him to “camp”: my aunt and uncle have an 11 year-old son who always wanted a dog. They took Blue around to meet every kid and every dog in the neighborhood. He of course became an instant celebrity.
I can’t tell you enough how absolutely crazy we are about this dog. He is the perfect pet, and we often wonder what we did to deserve him. Thanks so much for breeding such wonderful creatures!
